Embrace the truth

Hurts, pains, secrets, whatever. They all have something in common at times, and that's that it's often uneasy to get over them. I for one can attest to that. It takes a great deal to embrace something that has you really deep. Be it a form of failure, disappointment, of even a heartbreak. Fact is, till you let yourself really feel the emotions, you can never truly heal. They say time heals. But trust me, if you spend that time running and hiding from your own emotions, you only succeed in building up walls and masking the truth from even yourself. Healing? Far from it. You more or less end up causing insane and unnecessary damage to yourself. I remember a couple of times growing up when I ran from my emotions. Actually, I ran from them a lot. If something didn't make sense, I just closed the chapter and promised myself never to open it up again. I would keep all those books with incomplete stories locked up within me for years.  But do you know what that did for me? Wel...

A discovery

Image
Having a conversation yesterday, I came to realise that I made a very fatal mistake . I assumed I knew someone simply because I felt since we are so close I by default know the person and we are more it less the same. I can't begin to explain how horribly wrong I was. It got me thinking how often we fail to actually know the people around us, and just go about assuming. Note that Every individual us exactly that- an individual. To go about placing people into neat little boxes is to defeat the whole essence of a world full of independent individuals from different walks of life pursuing different things. When it comes to background, I've learnt the hard way to never take it for granted. It's a very strong determining factor of someone's personality. But don't get me wrong. I am not in anyway implying that where a person comes from is who they must become. No. However, it does determine how they react to things in life. It's important to understand this ab...

Get up and smell the coffee

Image
(Been a while. A thousand apologies. 😖) Anyone who knows me knows I love the smell of coffee. I'm trying to cut down on my caffeine intake however,  so to sooth my mind,  I use a wallpaper on my phone that makes me imagine the smell of those wonderfully roasted beans.  Lol Now with coffee,  most people use it as an "on"  button for their day. It gives that extra kick for the day to start out. What's your extra kick? It could be plans for the day, Something new you are working on, A friend you can't wait to see, Or even the thought of a new day with new adventures and possibilities. Whatever your motivation is,  make it a conscious thought everyday,  every morning. People usually see Mondays as a horrible day. I don't. See,  unlike a lot of people with the "I hate Monday"  posts online,  I actually love Mondays. I love lectures(sounds weird,  I know), I love studying medicine(more weirdness,  I know), I ...

Perspective

Image
When you look at this picture, you see two totally different things happening. the actual event is that of the man on the right pursuing the man on the left with a sharp object. however, the image the camera man captures depicts the man on the left ready to stab the man on right. this brings to mind a topic about passing judgement without getting to know the whole truth. my assistant music director spoke of this on what i believe was mu first rehearsal with the worship team. he addressed the issue of judging people simply by what we see. that is, without making any attempt to find put the whole truth. this also makes me remember the teaching of the late Dr Myles Munroe on one of the youth conferencrsvhe spoke at. that particular conference, he made an example of 'fact and truth' using a seed to explain potential. now he held out a seed in his hand and asked theaudience what he had in his hand. "A seed" they chorused. he told them that was the fact, but not t...

War Room trailer

here it is, the oficial War Room trailer. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mIl-XY9t_Lw

Crazy Faith

You may or may or may not know about the movie War Room. if you haven't seen it, do not be deceived, it's not a war movie. well technically it is. but not the kind you may be thinking. it is a movie everyone should see. great for family viewing. i'll post a link to the trailer later. now, crazy faith is the title of one of the soundtracks in the movie. since the second time i watched this movie, the song has become remarkeably meaningful to me. from my understanding, there are times when God kinda lets us get shaken up from our comfort zone. and it kinda feels like you are just 'winging it' but you are not. when you 'wing it' you are more or less leaving things to chance with mostly no hope of a positive outcome. you basically don't care. now this is my definition of 'crazy faith' ; it's a kind of zeal and extra boost you get to carry you on even when ALL natural senses tell you it's a hopeless case. i'd like to believe Queen Esth...
